Core Commitments is a nation-wide initiative of the Association of American Colleges and Universities that is designed to promote a campus culture of personal and social responsibility.  In 2007 UCF, along with 22 other institutions, received a grant from AAC&U to support this initiative.

The University of Central Florida is one of the twenty-five schools participating in the Association of American Colleges and Universities’ grant program, “Core Commitments: Educating Students for Personal and Social Responsibility.”  (See http://www.aacu.org for information on AAC&U, Core Commitments, and other programs.)

The five Core Commitments dimensions are:

   1. Striving for excellence

   2. Cultivating personal and academic integrity

   3. Contributing to a larger community

   4. Taking seriously the perspectives of others

   5. Developing competence in ethical and moral reasoning
